About Us

Since 2013, Institute of Dance has been known for providing quality dance education to students from Newcastle and its surrounds.

Our highly educated and qualified faculty deliver the most comprehensive, safe and enjoyable training experience in a positive and family friendly atmosphere. Institute of Dance is the sister school of Baby Ballet School, Newcastle's leading pre-school dance program. Under the one roof we cater for children aged two, to a pre-professional level.

The studio prides itself on maintaining small capped classes to ensure student progression, allowing your child to be given individual attention to continue to develop confidence and technique. It is of our upmost importance that each student not only receives expert tuition and reaches their full potential, but feels like a valued member of our studio, whilst having fun and creating friendships at dance.

Under the direction of Mr János Szabó, Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher,graduate of the Hungarian National Ballet School and member of the company for 2 decades, Institute of Dance is a Registered School with the Royal Academy of Dance and annually sends students for Examinations with 100% pass rate. János is one of the most qualified dance teacher within the Newcastle and Hunter regions, with is years of teaching at the Hungarian National Ballet and schools around Australia.

Institute of Dance caters for a diverse range of levels and abilities, our boutique style classes will give children ample opportunity to explore the fundamentals of dance, create memorable experiences and lasting skills. Priding ourselves on allowing each student to determine their own level of training, catering for those who wish to dance recreationally and for those who wish to turn their love of dance into a profession.

Our exciting, upbeat and encouraging afternoon dance programs operate weekly from our fully equipped, boutique studio located in Shortland, NSW. The studio is conveniently located at the end of the Hunter Expressway, five minutes from the University of Newcastle and Stockland Jesmond.

Students in our afternoon program evolve drastically in confidence, enthusiasm and eagerness. Our programs will challenge and empower your dancer!

Institute of Dance offers Full-Time and Part-Time programs where students can gain Nationally Accredited Qualifications including Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) and Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance), whilst undergoing elite instruction of dance at a vocational level, alongside academic studies.
